1944 - 2016 Obituary Condolences
STONE, David M. 71, of Somersworth, N.H. died at his home on June 12, 2016, after a long illness. He was born in Boston, Mass., on Aug. 26, 1944, to the late Thomas and Mary Stone. David grew up in Cambridge, Mass., with seven siblings. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Navy for 21 years before retiring as a senior chief in 1982. He lived in Guam, Florida, California, South Carolina, New Jersey and Maine before making his home in New Hampshire more than 30 years ago. He worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard following his military service. David cherished his family and grandchildren, and was an avid New England Patriots fan. He was the beloved husband of Linda (Woodbury) for 12 years. The couple spent more than 20 years together, enjoying cruises and trips to the casino. David was the loving father of Jacqueline Pender and her husband, Daniel, of Hampton, N.H.; and Christopher Stone and his wife, Marci, of Somersworth, N.H. He is survived by his sister, Mary Ellen Sullivan, of Natick, Mass., and brothers: Peter, of Hampton, N.H.; Joseph, of Medford, Mass.; John, of Newton, Mass.; Kevin, of Billerica, Mass.; and Brian, of Waltham, Mass. He is remembered by his wife's children, Tina Marshall, of Scarborough, Maine; and James Gray, of Somersworth, N.H.; and his grandchildren, Maxwell and Madeline Pender, of Hampton, N.H.; and Keenan and Layney Stone, of Somersworth, N.H. He is predeceased by his first wife, Geraldine (Foy) Stone, formerly of Somersworth, N.H.; and brother, Thomas Stone, Jr., formerly of Burlington, Mass. Visiting hours will be held at Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover, N.H., on Thursday, June 16 from 9 to 10 a.m., followed immediately by a memorial service. Interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. that day at the New Hampshire State Veterans' Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, N.H.
