1931 - 2016 Obituary Condolences
SCHUBERT, David Valentine NCARB, AIA, age 84 of Bluebell, Pennsylvania and formerly of Peabody, Massachusetts passed August 14, 2016 after a long and full life. Dave was born in Orange, New Jersey on November 30, 1931 to the late Joseph and Louise Schubert. Dave received his B.S. in Architectural Engineering from California State Polytechnic University, and is a life member of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity. Dave was a practicing architect for six decades, having designed many college/university athletic facilities and natatoriums from northern New England to North Carolina. He has been an active panelist for the American Arbitration Association for fifteen years. Dave was a member of North Reading Lodge A.F.A.M and a Past Patron in Mt. Carmel Chapter No. 230, OES, North Reading, MA. Dave is survived by his wife Viola Marie of 60 years; 4 children: David Schubert of Eliot, Maine, Peter Schubert of Durham, N.C., Sally Schubert-Smith of Ambler, Pennsylvania, and Carol Schubert of Mashpee, Massachusetts. Also surviving Dave are 9 grandchildren: Adriane Martin, Lydia Schubert, Henry Schubert, Christina Schubert, Teresa Schubert, Graham Greenland, Hannah Greenland, Grace Greenland, and Parris Greenland. He is predeceased by his brothers Robert Schubert and Joseph Schubert, and sisters Marie Vanderhoof and Doris Harris, and his grandson Joseph Schubert. A celebration of Dave's life is being planned by his family at a future date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in honor of Dave may be sent to the Architecture Department at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo to support student scholarships.
