DWYER, Denise C. July 19, 1950 – May 17, 2016 On May 17, 2016, after a courageous fight, Denise lost her battle with cancer and passed on to a better world. She is survived by her husband, Roland Helvajian, of Annandale, Virginia, and her sister, Dianne Dwyer Modestini, of New York. Denise will be missed by her many cousins, members of the Helvajian family, and countless friends and former colleagues. Denise was born in Boston, Massachusetts on July 19, 1950, to Edward J. and Bernice L. Dwyer. She attended St. Agatha's School and Fontbonne Academy, in Milton, Barnard College, and Columbia University Graduate School where she earned a Masters of Business Administration. She was especially proud of her Irish heritage, which inspired her great compassion for the unfortunate. She was on the staff of the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington D.C. for over 30 years where she wrote energy briefing papers for the Secretary, some of whom she closely assisted, and spent two years in Paris as a U.S. representative to the OECD. She made important contributions to the public good during her time as a Federal employee and was proud of her accomplishments in the energy sector. A memorial Mass will be held to celebrate Denise's life on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at St. Agatha's Church, 432 Adams Street, Milton, MA to be followed by a reception at the Granite Links Golf Club, 100 Quarry Hills Drive, Quincy, MA.
