Obituary Condolences

MAGRAW, Dolores (Hoffman) 90, died at her home in Newton at 2 am on 4.8.16, a fitting date for this lover of numbers and patterns in nature. Indeed, Dodie, as she was known, was a passionate, lifelong learner who voiced strong opinions about everything from science to politics to Greek literature to the choices made by her children. Dodie was known for her great empathy, generosity, piercing wit and towering intelligence. She was fiercely devoted to her five children, six grandchildren, and her deceased husband (Chuck Magraw, MD) of 62 years. With her husband, she was active in the anti-Vietnam War movement, co-founding the Boston-based group, Medical Aid for Indochina. Dodie was known to say that "great people feel greatly," and that "one's passing should leave a hole." Her passing leaves a large empty space in all who knew her. No services. Any donations should be sent in her name to the Council for a Livable World, 322 4th St NE, Washington, DC 20002.
