Obituary Condolences

GUILFOYLE, Donald J. Of Hanover, passed away on July 23, 2013, at Brigham & Womens Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Charlestown, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Cooke) Guilfoyle. He was a World War II veteran who served in the US Army after graduating from Rockland High School. He was a graduate of Saint Anselm College then attended Boston University. He was employed as the Director of Transportation for the Naval Education and Training Center in Newport, RI. Donald was a long time usher at St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church in Hanover, a founding member, Treasurer and past President of the ARC of Greater Plymouth. He continued to serve on the Board of Directors until his death. He was a member of the International Association of Basketball Officials and is recognized in the National Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, MA. He was also an active alumnus, and former President of the Golden Anselmians at Saint Anselm College. Donald was the devoted husband of the late Mary Elizabeth Bette (Houlihan) Guilfoyle. Loving father of Donald J. Guilfoyle Jr. of Hanover, Mary Beth Burnand and the late William J. Burnand of Weymouth, Kathleen Guilfoyle and her husband David Aisenberg of Needham, Joan Guilfoyle and her husband James Stewart of Arlington, VA, and the late Jack Guilfoyle. Dear brother of the late Ruth Bunker of Brockton, Joan Davenport of Bridgewater and Michael Guilfoyle of Pembroke. Cherished grandfather of Daniel, William, Erin, Maggie, Matthew, and Christopher. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Homes, 551 Washington St, Rte. 53 in HANOVER on Monday 2-4 & 7-9PM. Funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday 11AM in St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover St., Rte. 139 in Hanover. Interment in Hanover Center Cemetery.
