DONNA C. CARROLL Obituary
CARROLL, Donna C. (Coughlin) Of Winchester and Osterville, was called by the Lord on August 21. Cherished wife of 51 years of Dr. John M. Carroll. Deeply devoted mother of Martha Casey and her husband Tom of Winchester, Lesley Hauser and her husband Jim of Charlestown, John M. "Jay" Carroll Jr. and his wife, Carolyn (Noonan) of Wellesley, and Andrea Haney and her husband Brian of Winchester. Adored Nana to her ten grandchildren: Maddie, James, John, Alexandra, Victoria, Connor, Thomas, Caroline, Luke and Lauren. Loving sister of Mary Jane Eplett of Osterville, Ann Coughlin of Winchester, and Ken Coughlin of Centerville.

Mrs. Carroll was raised in Lexington, as the youngest of eight siblings with whom she shared life long treasured relationships. She graduated from Marycliff Academy, Winchester and Newton College of the Sacred Heart. She met Dr. John M. Carroll at a Holy Cross/Newton Sacred Heart post college "Mixer" while Dr. Carroll was in his residency at the Boston City Hospital and Mrs. Carroll was teaching third grade. There began a blessed, joyous union of 51 years centered on family, friends and faith. Mrs. Carroll was truly one for others. She was passionate about teaching her ten grandchildren the morals and values they would need in their own lives. She was regularly heard saying to them "People want to know what you stand for. We stand for helping others and for God." Mrs. Carroll's door was open at all times to her children's friends, and in recent years, her grandchildren's friends. Her festive homes were always full of people having fun.

Mrs. Carroll enjoyed playing bridge immensely with her Winchester girls, "The Bridge Geni" for over 25 years. Their faithful weekly Tuesday gatherings were more about the friendships than the cards. Mrs. Carroll loved tennis, golf and socialization with her beloved friends at The Oyster Harbors Club, The Beach Club, and Royal Poinciana Club.

Visiting hours will be from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 28 at John-Lawrence Funeral Home in MARSTONS MILLS. Mrs. Carroll's Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Osterville, on Monday, August 29 at 11:30 a.m., where she regularly attended Mass, her three daughters were married and many grandchildren were baptized. All are cordially invited to a reception immediately following the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mrs. Carroll's spiritual home, St. Eulalia's Church, 50 Ridge Street, Winchester, MA 01890, which is undergoing construction.

Mrs. Carroll's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians and staff of Lawrence Memorial, Massachusetts General and McLean Hospitals. For on-line guest book and directions, please visit www.johnlawrencefuneralhome.com
