1940 - 2016 Obituary Condolences
COLPITTS, Douglas B. It is with great sadness that the family of Douglas Bruce Colpitts announces his passing after a long illness. He died peacefully on Friday, May 13, 2016 in Naples, FL, surrounded by his loving family. Doug was born on May 1, 1940 in Boston, MA to John and Grace Colpitts. He leaves behind his wife of 29 years, Patricia (O'Connor) Colpitts; his sons, John and Peter and his wife Kit, Lynn Colpitts Glover and husband Mark, Sarah Colpitts Olson and husband Andre. He was most proud of his seven grandchildren, Kyle, Brodie and Sydney Colpitts, Savannah, Emma, and Joel Glover, and Brady Olson. He will be missed by his two brothers, Gordie and his wife Carol, Rich and his wife Mary Beth, numerous nieces and nephews; and many close friends. Doug was a fighter from the day he was born and worked tirelessly to please others. We will miss his wealth of brilliant advice, his generosity and thoughtfulness, his dedicated service to his clients, and his abounding love for family and friends. He will be remembered for his love of the New England Patriots, skiing, yachting, and exploring the eastern seaboard with family, friends, and his beloved dogs, Piper & Rambo. The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the dear family friend who donated his kidney to Doug in 2001. This gift extended Doug's life and afforded him 15 years of invaluable moments with his grandchildren, children, and loving wife. Memorial donations in memory of Doug may be made to Jonathan Coblyn, MD, Division of Rheumatology at Brigham and Women's Hospital, 75 Francis Street, Boston, MA 02115. Funeral services will be private.
