BELLO, Edna (Belitsky) Of Dedham, formerly of Needham, a devoted mother and volunteer, died Sunday from complications of stomach surgery. She was 82. She was born and raised in Boston and attended Boston public schools. Mrs. Bello grew up on Sutton Street in Dorchester, living on the first two floors of a tripledecker with an extended family of cousins. She graduated from Jeremiah E. Burke High School in 1951 and was selected as a member of the National Honor Society. Her parents emigrated from Poland. Mrs. Bello was married to the late Phillip A. Bello, an internationally recognized electrical engineer, for 63 years. He died on March 5. After graduating high school, she met her husband at the Talbot Bowladrome in Dorchester. Her husband would later recall, "it was love at first sight. "They lived in Dorchester for several years before moving to Needham to raise a family. They moved to Dedham in 2010. Mrs. Bello volunteered for 18 years at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in West Roxbury. She took care of veterans in the 1970s and 1980s who had spinal cord injuries. Mrs. Bello was recognized with an appreciation award, which stated, "a gladness overspread." Mrs. Bello also substituted for 11 years at the nursery school in the Jewish Community Center in Newton. She and her husband spent the past six years at NewBridge on the Charles in Dedham where they enjoyed the company and support of many friends. She lived life to the fullest, traveling, going to museums and other cultural events, shopping, vacationing at her Cape Cod home and spending time with her family and her cherished grandchildren. She will be remembered for her loving kindness, sense of humor and generosity, and was always willing to help someone in need. Mrs. Bello is survived by her sons, Martin, and his wife, Judith, of Brookline and Michael and his wife, Jennifer, of Needham.
