1932 - 2016 Obituary Condolences
TREMBLAY, Edward A. 83, died peacefully, April 1, 2016 at home in Newburyport. He was born June 16, 1932 in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of the late Evangeline and Wilfred Tremblay. He enlisted into the US Navy at Age 19 and served onboard the USS Eugene A. Greene ("The Steamin Gene") DDR 771 as well as the USS Pittsburgh CA-72 from February 1951 to January 1955. A graduate of Siena College with a degree in Physics, he worked for 31 years at Raytheon in Massachusetts and abroad in Munich, Germany. His work was instrumental in the development and the design of the Patriot Air and Missile Defense System. He was an accomplished skier, sailor and golfer. He leaves behind his beloved and devoted wife, Katherine M. Tremblay, his four children Denise and her husband Eric McGhee of Marietta, GA, Kate and her husband Stephen Heckman of Newbury, MA, David Tremblay, and his wife Annie Macmillan of Moretown, VT and John Tremblay of Brooklyn, NY; seven grandchildren Billy, Jakob, Zoe, Eve, Eloise, Sarah and Hazel; one great-grandchild, Violet; and a brother, Fred Tremblay. The family would also like to extend their thanks and love to his devoted caregivers Jef and Noel. A Memorial Mass was held at the Immaculate Conception Church, 42 Green Street, Newburyport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to "Friends of the Newburyport Public Library", 94 State Street, Newburyport, MA 01950.
