1919 - 2016 Obituary Condolences
MAY, Eleanor (McManmon) Age 97, died at Newfield House in Plymouth, on August 26th. Formerly of Newton, Kingston and Duxbury, she was born in Lowell, MA on August 20, 1919. Daughter of John and Josephine (Condon) McManmon. Loving wife of the late Gerald V. May. Loving sister of the late Monsignor John J. McManmon and loving mother of the late Elizabeth May. She is survived by Gerald V. May Jr. and Katherine May of Needham, Loretta May of Beacon Hill, Eleanor and Frederick Mullen of Farmington, CT, John (Jack) and Pamela May of Duxbury, Daniel May of Canton, Geoffrey and Tamela May of Plymouth, Katherine May of Newton, and twelve grandchildren. Eleanor graduated from Emmanuel College in 1941 and received a master's degree from Catholic University School of Social Work in 1943. She worked for over 25 years at Catholic Charities in Cambridge/Somerville. She was a life member of the Plymouth Yacht Club where she sailed with her husband, Gerald, in their catboats. She loved the sea, the winds and the beach and shared this love with her children and grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, August 31st, from 4-8:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St. (Rt. 106), KINGSTON. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, September 1st, at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Church, Duxbury. Interment will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Kingston. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Plymouth Yacht Club Junior Sailing Program, 34 Union St., Plymouth, MA 02360 or a .
