Obituary Condolences

GUDITZ, Elis Alvar 94, of Billerica, formerly of Lincoln & Acton, May 4, 2016 at the Care One Center in Concord. Beloved husband of 66 years to Edith V. (Enroth) Guditz. Father of Paul E. & wife Mary Ellen of Acton, Ralph H. of Bellevue, WA, & Kenneth R. & wife Patricia of Acton. Cherished Grandfather of Eric, Michael, & Katharine. He was predeceased by his parents, Knut & Hilma, & his sister Ruth Gokey. Born in Worcester, he graduated from Commerce High School in Boston in 1939. During WWII he served in the Navy, earning the Air Medal for service as a radioman/gunner flying anti-submarine patrols off the coast of New England in the North Atlantic. After the war he remained in the Reserves, retiring with the rank of Commander. He worked for MIT's Lincoln Laboratory for 33 years retiring in 1981. A ham radio operator most of his life, his call sign was W1MAY. He was a member of Mt. Hermon Lodge of Masons, now Golden Rule Lodge, for 67 years; the Newton Royal Arch Chapter; the Scottish Rite Valley of Boston; & the Aleppo Shriners in Wilmington. Visitation at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) Acton on Mon., May 9th at 10am, Masonic Service at 11am, followed by a blessing. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery, Jamaica Plain. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the M.S.P.C.A.-Angell, 350 S. Hungtington Ave, Boston, MA 02130.
