Obituary Condolences

KAHN, Elizabeth Leach Of Sherborn, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013 from health complications following surgery. Elizabeth was born April 24, 1924 in Lynn, the daughter of Albert and Effie Leach. She lived a full and active life. At age 16, she was the youngest member of one of the first American Youth Hostels when she rode 2000 miles roundtrip on a bicycle tour from New England to the Gaspe Peninsula, Quebec. She became a registered nurse and was proud of her years of work as a medical professional in the Boston community; including being a charge nurse at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital and participating in infectious disease research. In addition to being a loving mother and wife, Elizabeth was an equestrian, talented painter and avid reader. She also had a deep love of animals and nature. Having deep roots in both New England and Nova Scotia, Elizabeth passionately enjoyed summers in her Port Wade, Nova Scotia cottage and rooting for the New England Patriots. She is survived by four children: Robert H. Kahn and spouse Jacqueline of Portland, ME.; Geoffrey H. Kahn and spouse Richard of New Gloucester, ME.; Christopher A. Kahn and spouse Rhonda of So. Dennis, and Victoria Kahn-Sinclair and spouse Bruce of E. Kingston, N.H. plus grandchildren Quincy, Elyne, Michael and Charles, and nephew Thomas and niece Catherine. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Robert E. Kahn and her brother George Leach. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, November 21 at the George F. Doherty and Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St., (Rt.16) WELLESLEY, from 4-6 p.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited. A private interment will be held.
