Elizabeth Lyman Obituary

LYMAN, Elizabeth Parker 68, of Fairhaven, Mass. (formerly of Key West and Sarasota, Florida) was killed on April 11 when a tractor trailer with defective brakes struck her. She was in Manassas, Virginia driving to Florida. Lisa's business, "Decoupage Arts" was based in Boston and in Key West. She was born on Jan. 12, 1942 in Washington, D.C. Raised in Boston, she attended the Winsor School and graduated from the Holton Arms School in Washington, D.C. She graduated from Briarcliff College in Briarcliff Manor, New York, and attended Columbia University School of General Studies. She was the daughter of the late Ronald T. Lyman Jr. of Boston and the late Olivia Parkhill of Bridgehampton, New York. Lisa lived in Pietrasanta, Italy for a number of years and in Hamburg, Germany during her brief marriage to Peter Sonnberg. Fluent in Italian, she represented several Italian sculptors, helped to start a bottled water distributorship in the U.S. for Italian water, and later organized specialized tours to Tuscany. She was a master gardener and flower arranger, an extraordinary cook, and a memorable hostess. Most recently, she had become an accomplished decoupage artist. Dearly loved by family and countless friends, she will be greatly missed. Survivors include her step mother, Susan Storey Lyman of Lexington, four sisters: Olivia Huntington of New York City, Jane Shaw of Watertown, Jennifer Littlefield of Cambridge, and Mabel Whiteside of Brookline; two brothers: S. Parkman Shaw of Brookline and Ronald T. Lyman III of Washington, D.C. She also leaves four neices and seven nephews. A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, May 1 at the Episcopal Divinity School Chapel, 99 Brattle St. in Cambridge, Mass. at 12 noon. Flowers for the service may be sent c/o Littlefield, 16 Longfellow Park, Cambridge.
