ELIZABETH S. (MOONEY) BANE Obituary
BANE, Elizabeth S. (Mooney) Better known as Betty. She was 99 years old, of Arlington, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2016 at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Chelmsford, MA. She was the daughter of the late Elizabeth and Martin Mooney. She was also predeceased by her brothers William and Thomas Mooney, and her husband John Bane. She leaves behind her daughter, Nancy Schuster, and son-in-law Danny Schuster of Billerica, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Betty grew up and spent most of her life in Arlington. She loved her town, especially Allen Street, and enjoyed many walks to her favorite post office, bank, church, shops and hair dresser. She attended St. Agnes' Grammer School, Arlington High School, and graduated from Framingham State College. She briefly taught Home Economics at Burlington High School, but her real love was teaching 1st and 2nd graders at the Bigelow School in South Boston. She always said that teaching in South Boston was the best thing she ever did. She loved her students, and made so many wonderful and loyal friends there. Betty enjoyed traveling and saw much of the world. Wells, Maine was a special place for her in the summer. She enjoyed writing poetry, the family history, and notes just to cheer people up. She was also an excellent dog and cat sitter for her daughter Nancy and considered them her grand fur babies. Most of all, she loved being with her family and friends. Funeral from the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut St. (Rte. 60, adjacent to St. Agnes' Church) on Wednesday at 9 am. Funeral mass in Saint Agnes' Church at 10 am. Relatives and friends invited.
