2015 - 2016 Obituary Condolences
SHAW, Emerson Mary Age 16 months, of Waterbury Center, Vermont, passed away on June 10, 2016 from complications of Type II Gaucher's Disease. She died peacefully in her parents' arms, surrounded by family and friends. Emerson was born in Seattle, Washington on February 10, 2015 to Sarah A. Casey and Steven D. Shaw. She and her parents moved to Waterbury Center, Vermont in August of 2015. Emerson lived a full life, bringing joy and light everywhere she went. She touched so many lives in her short time here on earth. Her brave, sweet spirit inspired us all to love with open hearts, and to live life to its fullest. She had an infectious laugh and a wonderful sense of humor – playing "jokes" like dropping things on the floor, or flipping herself upside down, with a mischievous twinkle in her beautiful blue eyes. She was also a musician at heart who loved percussion instruments and pianos of all types. However, she was never happier than when surrounded by her family, with her favorite doll by her side. We feel honored and blessed to have shared this journey with her. Thank you Little Bug – we love you for eternity. In addition to her parents, Emerson is survived by her paternal great-grandmother, Marion Carver, her paternal grandparents, Daniel Shaw & Ann Shaw of Washington State, her maternal grandparents, Dennis Casey & Melissa Hall of Massachusetts, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Visiting hours: Friday, June 17 from 4:00-7:00PM, Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main St., FALMOUTH. Funeral Mass: Saturday, June 18 at 10:00 AM, St. Patrick Church, 511 Main St., Falmouth. Burial: Oak Grove Cemetery, Jones Road, Falmouth. Emerson's family would like to express deep gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at: Essex Pediatrics, The University of Vermont Children's Hospital, and Boston Children's Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Emerson's honor to: the Courageous Parents Network, a wonderful organization that provides support to families of children with life-limiting illness (www.courageousparentsnetwork.org), and to the University of Vermont Children's Hospital, whose caregivers were amazing and supportive throughout Emerson's journey (www.uvmhealth.org/medcenter/Pages/About-UVM-Medical-Center/Foundation).
