1923 - 2019 Obituary Condolences
SCHILLINGER, Ethel Age 95, passed away peacefully, on December 27, 2018, at her home in San Diego, CA. She was born March 29, 1923, in Boston, to Louis and Delphina (Chiesa) Bernazani. She was a graduate of Everett High School and completed her training as a registered nurse at Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett, MA in 1945. She worked at Massachusetts General Hospital, the DuPont Institute in Wilmington, DE. and at Brookhaven National Laboratories in Long Island, NY, and later at the former Goddard Memorial Hospital in Stoughton, MA. She married Robert Francis Schillinger of Staten Island, NY, August 23, 1952, who predeceased her in March 2018, with whom she celebrated 65 years of marriage together. Truly loved by all who knew her, Ethel was creative, with irrepressible energy, and style. She was intelligent, yet light hearted, and a gifted, and compassionate care-giver, possessing rare qualities to genuinely comfort all of her patients. She was artistic, and resourceful, adventuresome and an amateur musician, as well as accomplished seamstress. Ever supportive of all 8 children's activities, she also was very involved in the lives of her many grandchildren. She is survived by her brothers Paul, George, and John; sisters Marion (Pearson), Helen (Prizio), and Claire (Frassica); her children Mark, Thomas, Michael, Elizabeth, Stephen, John, Catherine, and Margaret (Alves); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, & great-grandchildren, and is joined in the hereafter by her sisters Louise (Rossetti) and Frances (Chubinski). Family and friends whose lives Ethel touched, are invited to attend a Celebration of her Life at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Saugus, MA, on Friday, January 18th at 10 am.
