ALFONSO, Eugene G. 77, of Easton, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 20, 2016. He was the loving husband of the late Joanne M. (Anania) Alfonso. Born March 30, 1939 in Brockton, he was raised in Brockton and graduated from Brockton High School where he played football and met his sweetheart, Joanne. Gino was a self-made man, working as a Real Estate broker and starting his career in the shoe industry by purchasing Baxendale Cut Sole Company and Leather Company in Brockton. He later merged other companies to establish International Shoe & Leather Company operating in Brockton and in El Paso, Texas. He invented, and was the pattern holder for, the waterproof leather sole for Footjoy golf shoes. He enjoyed traveling the world with his wife and family, going to New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox games with Marcy, watching boxing, and most of all spending time with his family. He was a member of Thorny Lea Golf Club in Brockton, past president of the Boston Boot and Shoe Club, and was a resident of Easton for over 50 years. A successful businessman, he was always kind and compassionate and was loved by friends and his employees alike. He was a gentleman, always punctual, and always a man of his word. He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Alfonso of Stoughton and Kristian Alfonso-Daggenhurst and her husband Richard of CA; his adored grandchildren, Gino, Spartan and Jack; he is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
