Obituary Condolences

ZAZOFSKY, Eugene The family of Eugene (Gene) Zazofsky mourns the sudden loss of their beloved Gene, formerly of Miami, Florida and Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Gene was the son of former BSO violinist George Zazofsky and Edyth Gomberg. All who knew Gene remember him as a warm, special, caring, and truly exceptional person who brightened their lives. Gene's passions were the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the Boston Red Sox. During the academic year, Gene worked at the University of Miami where he was recognized as the longest continuous employee in the history of the University, never missing a day of work. During the summers, Gene joined his family in the Berkshires. He leaves behind his loving sister Erika Zazofsky-Goldberg and Stephen Kurland; his brother violinist Peter Zazofsky; his nieces/nephews Adam and Angie (with children Johnathan and Aria); Jaimi and Allyson (with children Olivia, Alex and Andrew); Becky and Dave (with children Peter and Charlotte); Gabriella and Leah Zazofsky; Steven Goldberg, and countless friends between MahKeeNac Shores in Stockbridge and Miami. An avid Red Sox fan, Gene was always one to offer an opinion on the Red Sox, regardless of their record. He loved attending concerts at Tanglewood, and sometimes was conflicted between listening to concerts and listening to the Red Sox (and sometimes he was caught doing both). In between, he enjoyed time on Stockbridge Bowl, and the time he spent with family who joined him at the cottage. Above all, he most treasured the times when his beloved sister Erika, and Steve, joined him. The world will never see another; he will be missed by all. Arrangements at a later date in the Berkshires.
