F. JOSEPH GEOGAN II Obituary
GEOGAN, F. Joseph II Of Norwell, MA and Little Compton, RI, passed away suddenly on Monday June 13, 2016 at the age of 61. Joe was born in Quincy, MA on July 30, 1954 to the late Robert Geogan and his wife Mary and he was raised in Rockland, MA. Joe was a 1972 graduate of Thayer Academy and a 1976 graduate of The College of the Holy Cross. After he received his Juris Doctor from The New England School of Law in 1980, and following in the footsteps of his late grandfather and father, Joe took over the family law firm, Geogan & Geogan, on Union Street in Rockland where he spent his professional career. Joe was an avid skier, runner and cyclist who loved outdoor activity and the camaraderie and friendships he developed with others in its pursuits. Joe loved the law and was gratified that its practice enabled him to use his many skills to help others in need. His wise and empathetic counsel was sought by many, always offered freely, and valued by all who were fortunate to receive it. Above all else, Joe valued family. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Amy (Aldrich) Geogan and his sons, Robert A. Geogan and Matthew A. Geogan, of Norwell, MA. In addition, he was the brother of the late Rev. Philip J. Geogan and is survived by his sisters, Deborah Geogan Hardy of Plymouth, MA and Robyn Geogan Noble of Providence, RI. Joe delighted in being part of a large extended family inclusive of his wife's many siblings and the twenty six nieces and nephews they shared. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 45 East Water Street in ROCKLAND on Friday from 4-7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9 AM at Holy Family Church, 403 Union St in Rockland. Burial will be private. Donations in Joe's memory may be made to The Norris Reservation, in care of The Trustees of the Reservation, 572 Essex St, Beverly, MA, 01915.
