FRANCIS X. "FRANK" O'SULLIVAN Obituary
O'SULLIVAN, Francis X. "Frank" 84, of Concord, MA, formerly of Hingham, MA died on October 31, 2016 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Bedford after a short illness. Frank was surrounded by his family and close friends in his final days. He was the beloved husband for 49 years of the late Eleanor F. (Williams) O'Sullivan who died in 2013. Born in Milton on September 1, 1932, he was the son of the late Timothy and Mary (O'Toole) O'Sullivan. He graduated from Boston College High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Boston College. He also studied meteorology at NYU. He subsequently served in the United States Air Force as a weather forecaster during the Korean Conflict. Upon completion of his service to the Air Force, Mr. O'Sullivan began a long career in the emerging computer technology field starting as an Orbital Tracker for the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory during the SPUTNIK era. During the 1960's, he was a Systems Engineer for IBM in Boston. Later he worked as a Systems Manager for KEYDATA Corporation in Cambridge, Director of Management Information Systems for the Stop and Shop Companies in Boston, and as the Director of Internal Operations for the Footjoy Company in Brockton. A longtime resident of Hingham, he was a former member of the Marshfield Country Club and served as commissioner of the Hingham GALS Basketball League. He moved to Concord in 2007 and in subsequent years was able to fully enjoy and appreciate the academic and athletic accomplishments of his grandchildren. He is survived by his three daughters, Theresa (Terry) Hoey and her husband Richard of Concord, Holly Boyle and her husband Leo of Concord, Tracy Coughlin and her husband Barry of Hanover, his son Kevin O'Sullivan and his wife Julia of Longmont, Colorado, his grandchildren Ryan, Melissa and Austin Hoey, Colleen, James and Brooke Boyle, and Maggie and Sean Coughlin, his brothers, Paul O'Sullivan and his wife Peggy of Milton and George O'Sullivan of Wollaston, his sister-in-law Cathy O'Sullivan of Natick and nieces Diane and Kara and nephew Chris. He was also the brother of the late Timothy O'Sullivan, Jr. Visiting hours at the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, CONCORD CENTER will be held on Thursday, November 3rd from 4 to 7:30 pm. Funeral will be on Friday, November 4th at 9 am from the Dee Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 am in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center. Private burial will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne where officers of the USAF will present military honors. Concord's town flag will fly at half-staff on Friday, November 4th in recognition of Mr. O'Sullivan's service to his country during the Korean Conflict.
