GARY OWEN EMMER Obituary
EMMER, Gary Owen Of Wellesley, October 14, 2016. Beloved husband of Barbara (Waite) Emmer. Loving father of Jennifer Emmer of San Jose, CA. Brother-in-Law of Alison Tajarian and her husband Marshall of Wethersfield, CT; Harvey Waite and his wife Roseann of Topsfield, MA. Gary was born August 19, 1937 in Manhattan, NY to his parents Edith Earthy Emmer and Harry Emmer, originally of Brooklyn, and later East Williston, Long Island, NY. Gary attended Princeton University for undergrad, graduating in 1959. Afterwards, he went to Harvard for graduate school, where he received an MBA in 1961. He married Barbara Sheffield Waite on May 27, 1961, and they moved to Wellesley, MA. Gary worked as a Manager, Vice President, and Marketing Manager at a number of companies in New England including United Shoe Machinery, Rust Craft Greeting Cards, Deck House, Printed Circuit, and Topaz Travel. In 1982, he opened his own business management consulting practice, where he consulted with small businesses in New England. A Renaissance man extraordinaire, Gary was also an avid hiker, and a member of the 4,000 Footer's club, the 100 Highest, and a number of other accolades. Gary was an active member of Westgate Church for over 40 years. He enjoyed participating in the choir and served on many boards over the years. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. A private burial and graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley, MA, followed by a memorial service at Westgate Church, 100 Winter St. Weston, MA on Saturday, October 22 at 10:30 AM.
