DR. GERALD F. ROSS Obituary
ROSS, Dr. Gerald F. Died on Monday, Oct. 10 in Sarasota, Fla., at the age of 85. Gerry was born on Dec. 14, 1930, in New York where he attended Brooklyn Technical High School and City College of New York. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Vivian, and survived by his children, Jayne (Bruce), Steven (Kristi) and Helene (Bill). He was also survived by his eight grandchildren, Ricky, Bryan, Jimmy, Jeff, Chelcie, Andrew, Dave, Matt, and great-grandchild, Ethan.

Gerry served as an officer in the Air Force before receiving his MEE and Ph.D., from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. He moved from New York to Massachusetts in 1965 to start a long successful career with Sperry Rand Corporation. In 1980, he formed ANRO Engineering, which at one point, had 40 nationally rated engineers working on applied-research projects. He was elected a member of the National Academy of Engineering in 1995. During his career, he published more than 150 papers in accredited journals, was the contributing author to three texts and held 60 patents in his field. Even with all his professional accomplishments in mind, Gerry would still rank those behind his hole-in-one at Laurel Oak Country Club. He loved golf, travel and the arts. He had a lively sense of humor and loved dogs. But his true passion was his family. He will be remembered for how he was always there to support and inspire his children and grandchildren. His memorial service is scheduled for Nov. 6 at 11 a.m at Hotel Indigo in Sarasota, FL.
