HELEN HYATT SEGAL

1923 - 2016 Obituary Condolences
HELEN HYATT SEGAL Obituary
SEGAL, Helen Hyatt Was born on September 26, 1923 in New Haven, CT, daughter of Dora and Morris Hyatt. After graduating from New Haven High School, she went to Quinnipiac Jr. College. After graduating, Helen worked as a dental assistant and bookkeeper. Then married Lt. Jack Segal. A union that lasted for 64 years.

During a time when few women were owners of a business, Helen owned and managed a residential apartment building while still finding time to be a caring mother to her two daughters and a loving wife to her husband Jack. Helen taught her daughters about the importance of community and how to build strong relationships. Helen was a dynamic, dedicated, caring, passionate and smart woman. She presided over a multitude of non-profit organizations. As she grew older, she was elected President of her condo association for over 20 years, becoming a reservoir of assistance for all the people and families that lived there.

Helen was the loving mother of Barbara Segal Rutberg and Jerold Rutberg, Marlene Segal Wise and the late Jeffrey Wise. Proud grandmother of Joshua Rutberg, Nicole and Brett Di Resta, Jennifer and Michael Weinstein and Paula and Gregory Wise. She loved her great-grandchildren Andrew, Rachel, and Jack Di Resta and Jordan Weinstein.

She leaves behind a zest for living, caring for others, and the importance of family and friendships.
