BEATTY, James J. Sr. Of Mansfield passed away peacefully on Friday, June 24, 2016, at the age of 86 in East Providence, Rhode Island at Evergreen House. He was the husband of the late Dorothy K. (Morse) Beatty married 46 years. He was a lifelong resident of Mansfield. James was the son of the late John F. Beatty and Anna M. (Williams) Beatty, born in Mansfield February 3, 1930. Brother of the late William J. Beatty, of Mansfield, the late Edward F. Beatty of Hyde Park, the late Mary Beatty of Mansfield, the late Rita K. Lavezzo of Fairfax, Virginia and sister Anna "Peggy" Lies of Norman, Oklahoma. He will be forever missed and loved by his family, James J. Beatty, Jr. and his partner Regina Hegarty of St. Augustine, Florida, Edward J. Beatty and his wife Maria of Norton and Bryan M. Beatty of Providence, Rhode Island. He is also survived by his grandchildren Eddie, Kristina, Emma and Colleen and many nieces and nephews. James for many decades owned and operated Beatty's Moving and Trucking and JEB Transportation both in Mansfield. He became a member of the Teamsters Union Local 653 Brockton at the age of 18 and was active to his retirement at age 80. A veteran, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He most enjoyed travel with wife Dottie and the time they shared at their home in Saint Augustine Florida. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church, 330 Pratt St. (Rte. 106), Mansfield on Saturday, July 2 at 11 am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. The burial is at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation prior to the Mass will take place at the Bolea-Amici Funeral Home at 115 North Main Street, MANSFIELD, from 9 to 10:30 am.
