LaTORRE, James J. Passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on Monday, November 14, 2016.|
Jim was the top student in his school as a young child. He was awarded a full academic scholarship to Regis High School in New York City. He went on to graduate from Holy Cross with a degree in marketing.
Naturally quiet and reserved, Jim ironically chose a career in mainframe computer sales. At one point in the early 1970s, Jim was the top salesman in the country for IBM. He succeeded through sheer determination.
Jim had an unwavering moral code. If there was one thing that mattered most to him, it was his attempt to instill that code into all four of his children. The entire basis of his life was dedicated to the love and support of his wife and family.
Jim found some of his most enjoyable moments on the beach, in the ocean, deep in a book, or at any opportunity to watch his favorite NY sports teams.
His quiet warmth will be greatly missed.
Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years Margot (nee Hickey), four children; James Jr., Jennifer Palombo, Chris, and Laura Duncan, and his grandchildren; James III, Michael, Ryan, Max, Ella, Gray, Matthew and Avery.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 21st from 4-8pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 176 Main Street, Peapack, NJ. Funeral Mass Tuesday, November 22nd at 10:00 am at St. Brigid Church, 129 Main Street, Peapack, NJ. www.baileyfuneral.com
