James Milligan Obituary

Of Manhattan, New York City, passed away suddenly on January 7, 2005. Loving husband of Karen Blank and devoted father of Ned Milligan, of whom he was so proud. Beloved brother of Barbara Cahill. Since 1980 he served as Dean of Admissions of Columbia University's School of Law where he developed a national reputation as a leader in admissions and became a mentor and guide to thousands of law students. Son of the late James and Catherine Milligan. Graduate of Catholic Memorial High School and College of the Holy Cross, he attained prominence at the crossroads of American law and education while maintaining natural grace, sensitivity and respect for all he encountered. Service is scheduled for January 10, 2005 at 1 PM at the West End Collegiate Church, 368 West End Avenue in Manhattan. Donations may be made to The Monastery of St. Clare, 920 Centre St., Jamaica Plain 02130. or Columbia Law School, Office of Financial Aid, 435 West 116th St., New York, NY 10027.
