Obituary Condolences

HICKMAN, James P. Of Acton, Sept. 9, 2018. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Sheela (Fowler); a son, James "Jay" F. Hickman and wife Michelle of Amherst, NH; three daughters, Laurie Mayoral and husband Jose of York, ME, Cynthia Bradlee and husband Ben of Watertown, MA, Janica Vogler and husband Todd of Kildeer, IL; two brothers, Barry Hickman and wife Karen of West Roxbury, MA and Brian Hickman and wife Karen of Braintree, MA. He also leaves his four grandchildren. Born in Boston, MA, son of the late James E. and Ruth L. (Phillips) Hickman. Raised in Brighton, MA and received his Bachelor's Degree from UMASS Amherst. Worked for many years in the environmental field beginning a long career in sales and marketing in 1975 with Jet Line Services and later Clean Harbors. He served as Vice President and President of Jet Line until 1982 when he started JP Hickman Associates. It was there he began his close working relationship with Clean Harbors and eventually became their Vice President of Business Development. He was a member of the Propeller Club of Boston and spent his time promoting safe maritime commerce with the oil companies of greater Boston. Visiting hours are Friday September 14th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) ACTON. The funeral service will be held on Saturday September 15th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Urn burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts be made in Mr. Hickman's name to the Hospice and Palliative Care Federation of MA, 20 Commercial Drive, Suite 1, Wrentham, MA 02093; also online at www.hospicefed.org.
