JOHN HAMILTON "JACK" FAHEY Obituary
FAHEY, John "Jack" Hamilton Died peacefully at the age of 80, on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 in Santa Rosa, California. He was supported by the love and care of family, friends, and hospice at the end of his life. Jack was born June 9, 1936 to John Patrick and Katherine (Hamilton) Fahey in Medford, Massachusetts. He was proud of the fact that "all four of my grandparents were from Ireland." Jack graduated from St. John's High School in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, getting excellent grades with a little encouragement from his uncle, Brother Vincent. He completed undergraduate work for a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he was a member of the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. He then attended the United States Navy's Officer Candidate School becoming a Lieutenant Junior Grade, primarily serving as a Radio Officer on the USS Galveston. After completing his Naval service, he received a Masters in Business Administration from Boston University. In 1970, Jack married Mary "Molly" Elizabeth David in Pompano Beach, Florida. They had two children -- a son, Sean, in 1971 and a daughter, Tara, in 1975. For most of his career, Jack and family lived in North Carolina. He worked as one of the country's leading medical sales professionals, specializing in intraocular lenses. After retiring, Jack and Molly moved to their cottage in Sunset Beach, North Carolina, and in 2009, moved to Healdsburg, California to live by the Russian River. Jack enjoyed reading his daily paper, gardening delicious tomatoes, and traveling every summer to Peaks Island, Maine to visit his family. Jack was genuinely interested in people and conversation and would talk to almost anyone and everyone. He also loved rooting for Boston sports teams -- highlighted by his beloved Red Sox finally breaking through with three World Series wins since 2004! Jack managed vascular and kidney diseases for many years, and despite all the changes in his health, he kept a positive attitude and rarely complained. Jack is survived his wife, Molly; children Sean and Tara and their spouses Robin Luce and Theo Csavas; his two grandsons, Ryan and Grant; his sister-in-law, Beatrice; and his nieces and nephews Andrea, Fred, Jay, Kevin, Brian and Meaghan and their children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his older brother, Norbert; his nephew, Norby; and his grandson, Henry. An outdoor service will be held on Saturday, August 6th at 2:00 pm at Santa Rosa Memorial Park, 1900 Franklin Avenue, Santa Rosa. The family is accepting flowers by La Belle Fleur Design (http://www.labellefleurcal.com; phone (707) 542-6729). Memorial donations can be made to the Red Sox Foundation, whose goal is to harness the passion fans have for the Red Sox and transform it into a vehicle for positive change in the community (https://www.redsoxfoundation.org/give/).
