JOHN J. FALVEY Obituary
FALVEY, John J. Of Hingham, formerly of Virginia Beach and Acton, on March 28, 2016 at age 92, surrounded by his family, including his beloved wife of 64 years, the former Sheila (Daley) Falvey. Raised in Grafton, served as a U.S. Navy officer in the Pacific during World War II, as commanding Officer on the LSM 269. Received a BS from the College of the Holy Cross in 1948 and a PHD in Chemistry from the University of Notre Dame in 1953, and pursued a 33-year career as a research chemist. John and Sheila married in 1952 and raised their seven children in Darien, CT and then Acton. He was a devoted father, active with his sons in scouting, and a devout parishioner and lector at his parishes in Darien, Acton, and in Virginia Beach, where he and Sheila moved in 1983. Recently they resided at Linden Ponds in Hingham. John leaves Sheila and their children, Mary, Patrick, Eileen and husband Doug Taylor, Jack and wife Martha, Mike and wife Megan, Matthew, and Jim and wife Laura, as well as ten grandchildren. He is predeceased by his sister, Kathleen, of Grafton. Funeral Mass on Friday, April 1 at 10 am at Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St, Worcester. Memorial service on Saturday, April 2 at 930 am at O'Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, WORCESTER.
