Obituary Condolences

Howland, John Warren Of Tewksbury, formerly of Revere, passed away unexpectedly on January 1st 2014. John graduated Arlington High School in 1951 and then he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After leaving the Army, John attended and graduated from the Bentley College of Accounting and Finance. His professional career was started at John Hancock in Boston, where he retired as Vice President of Financial Services after working there for over 40 years. He was actively involved in John Hancock's annual campaign for the United Way and was a yearly volunteer for the Boston Marathon. After living and raising his family in Revere, Massachusetts for 46 years, they moved to Stonebury Crossing in Tewksbury. John was an active member in the Stonebury Condo association, serving as President. John was also Chairman of the Briarwood Condominium Association for 30 years in West Yarmouth, where he and his wife owned a vacation home. They enjoyed the Cape for many years of golf and relaxation. They also spent several years wintering in Fort Myers Beach, FL, where he leaves behind several very close friends. John will be remembered by his family as a devoted husband, and a loving father and grandfather. He will be remembered by everyone who knew him for his leadership and generosity. John was the loving husband of Dolores (DellaPorta) Howland for 55 years, beloved father of Kenneth Howland and his wife Tammy of Wilmington, the late Gary Howland of Revere and Robin Memory Frost and her husband Gary of Wilmington, cherished grandfather of Katie, Emma and Ashleigh Howland and Jonathan, Zachary, Jeremy and Nicolas Frost, son of the late Donald and Mary (Maguire) Howland, dear brother of the late Richard Howland of Somerville, William "Bill" Howland of Birmingham, AL and his late wife Nancy, the late Donald Howland, survived by his wife Patricia of Everett, Nancy Doyle and her late husband Maurice of Derry, NH and the late Bruce Howland, survived by his wife Donna of Chelmsford. John is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather for a funeral on Monday, January 6th, at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rt. 62), WILMINGTON, at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Dorothy's Church, 120 Main St. (Rt. 38), Wilmington, at 10:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
