To the family of Mr McGrath
My name is Roger McDonough. I reside in Sarasota, Fl. On February 8, 2011, my father, John Roger McDonough (Harvard '44) passed away in Brandon, Fl. Mr. McGrath and my father were roommates at Kirkland House. A few days after my father's passing, I received a very kind hand written note from Mr. McGrath expressing his condolences. My wife and I were profoundly moved by this kind gesture and we immediately wrote back to thank him. We kept Mr. McGrath's card as a reminder of the bonds that were formed not only at Harvard, but also among those that served their country with dignity and honor. (my father served with the 244th combat engineer battalion as a 1st lieutenant). My wife and I offer our belated condolences to your family. We just lost her father in April of this year (former navy pilot) and another proud member of the Greatest Generation, just as I am sure Mr. McGrath was. Again, our condolences to your family for the loss of a fine man.

Regards

Roger & Meg McDonough
Sarasota, Fl.
