JOSEPH "JOEY" SCROOC Obituary
Scrooc, Joseph "Joey"
Age 74, formerly of Newton "The Lake" died peacefully on July 6 at Beverly Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Newton, son of the late Joseph and Betty (Tocco) Scrooc. He moved to Beverly in 2009 to be near his sister. "Joey" was known for his smile and courage as he dealt with cerebral palsy all his life. In spite of his handicap he was very active, known never to miss a good party and was able to travel. He was deeply religious and was presented with "Pillar of the Church Award". He was president of the Kennedy Circle Senior Housing Association for many years. He was an avid Red Sox fan and he enjoyed a good game of bingo. He is survived by a brother Dom Scrooc and his wife Dorothy of Redondo Beach, CA, sisters Grace Cetrone of Billerica, Carol Patuto and husband Peter Patuto of Beverly, brother-in-law Pat Patuto of Waltham, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and a great, great nephew. He was predeceased by his sister Joanna Patuto and his brother-in-law Anthony Cetrone. Donations can be made to Catholic TV, PO Box 9196, Watertown 02471 or . Visiting hours in the Andrew J. Magni & Son Funeral Home, 365 Watertown St, Rt. 16, Newton, Wednesday from 4-8PM and again on Thursday morning at 9:30AM, before proceeding to Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Newton for a Funeral Mass at 10:30AM. Burial in Newton Cemetery.
