KAMALA DEVI DANSINGHANI Obituary
DANSINGHANI, Kamala Devi Was born July 16, 1972 to the late Lachman and Mary Dansinghani in Indianapolis, IN. She passed away on October 14, 2016 in Boston, MA. Academically she was a gifted student. She was the first female valedictorian to graduate with a 4.0 from Dartmouth College. Her valedictory address was included in a collection of well-known Dartmouth speeches. USA Today counted her as one of the top twenty students in the country. She went on to get her MD and MPH from Harvard Medical School and worked for two years at Dana Farber. She had suffered with anorexia since the age of 16 and was hospitalized at various times. It was a long hard struggle which she fought with bravery and courage. In the end the disease claimed her life. She is survived by two daughters, Arya Vasant (10) and Soraya Vaishali (8), her mother Mary Dansinghani of Hamden, CT, her brother Raj and his wife Eugenia of Middletown, CT. Aunts and uncle include Sundar and Hardevi Dansinghani of Kingston, JA, Ram and Sabhita Chadeesingh of Orlando FL, Gerard and Marcia Lebre of Paris, FR. Also included are numerous cousins in Jamaica, NY, Cambodia and China. The family wishes to thank all those who have helped Kamala through the years. Dr. Brian Kornbluth and his medical team at Tufts were superb and went above and beyond to insure her comfort and care. Services will be private with a Gathering of Friends later in January in Boston. Donations may be made in Kamala's memory to The Connecticut Mental Health Center (Attn: Kyle Pedersen), 34 Park Street, New Haven, CT, 06519.
