The too early loss of Katherine saddens all of the Gibbons family. We remember the good times of O'Connell H.S. and Holy Cross to temper our grief.

To the entire family of Mrs. Jacaruso,

I met a good chunk of the family at the scholarship dinner last December. Her personality lit up the room, as did excitement of your three beautiful daughters. Words can not do justice to what I witnessed that day - the beauty, charisma, and life that beamed from her. I was truly fortunate to have met all of you and I am forever grateful for everything that you have done for me.

Thank you and God Bless,

Bill, Margaret, Grace, Madeline and Mary Jane,

I sat next to, in front of or behind Kathy every day for 4 years (along with MJ and John Hepfinger)...as we were alphabetically "Hea", "Hep" and "Her." I experienced Kathy's joy, happiness and infectious smile every day. Through Kathy, we all felt God's love.

When I return home to Virginia for a visit this summer, I will collect some pictures of Kathy for the girls. Margaret, Grace and Madeline, you should know your mother was REALLY LOVED by us all.

In loving memory of Katherine Jacaruso

Reflections
By Brittney Blye

There is something about the shoreline of Connecticut that can take your breath away. Fresh salt air and the sound of a sea gull gliding high above. The way the sunlight can reflect such beauty on a face that once looked so simple- now radiant with a spectrum of light and color. The way a woman wearing a floppy hat and white linen dress appears to be dancing as the warm summer breeze moves about her. The way a man looks when he falls in love as each wave crashes with the beat of his heart. It is as if the ebb and flow of the universe is at your fingertips and moves inside of each and every one of us right here- right now…

The rush of the flickering lights speeding down the freeway. The clap of the first summer storm and the white of the first winter snow. The taste of hot cocoa at the parade and Grandmother’s sugar cookies shaped like hearts. The fierce pace of the working man and the silence in the woods. The smell of a rose and the taste of a honeysuckle. The sting of a bee and the lips that kiss to make it better. The word love and all of its emotions and the word pain and all of its emotions. The simplicity of hello and the delicate pain of good- bye. Someone to hug when you need comfort- someone’s shoulder when you need to cry. Feel this with the sun on your face- or the rain in your hair, but always with your toes in the sand with a smile in your soul and a tear on your face…

Reflections in the river- follow them forever. The river never ends; it twists and moves through twigs and rocks and stones. Without the river we would never move with the universe; without the twigs and stones- there would be no change. Remember to stop and listen to the whisper in the wind and the shift of the river. For there is someone who is falling in love for the first time somewhere. There is someone holding their newborn for the first time. There is someone laughing out loud or crying silently. There is not much that a smile from a child cannot change. A simple touch. A smile. Know that our hearts beat as one. The incandescent reflection- the salt water tears- the cool breeze and the sunshine- the rain and the storms will come and go- -but forever united by the tides of life we shall be…

We offer our deepest sympathy. When tragedy strikes and takes the life of innocent loved ones, many cry out with great sorrow. Your tears are not unnoticed by the Creator of Life. Never was it his purpose for our human lives to be taken away. Although your deep pain will not easily disappear, prayer to God will bring comfort to you as you grieve. The Bible assures us God "is healing the broken hearted ones, and is binding up their painful spot." Psalm 147:3

To the Jacaruso and Healy Families,

We are all better for having had Kathy in our lives, even for this sadly shortened time. I met her through Morgan Stanley, when we worked on an account togther. Neither before nor since have I had the pleasure to work with someone as genuinely inherently good. Her level of compassion and understanding is simply a rarity in the workplace, and I know these qualities helped make her a star at Fido. I was lucky enough later on to visit her in Essex, and maintain a little bit of correspondence in the last few years. My heart is heavy with this loss, but a bit comforted knowing she leaves part of her stellar legacy in the faces of those 3 beautiful girls.

May 14, 2009

Dear Bill,
