KAY MINKOVITZ BEYNART Obituary
BEYNART, Kay Minkovitz 75, a longtime resident of Atlanta, GA, died on June 12, 2018 following complications from almost a decade of illness. She passed away peacefully at Newbridge on the Charles in Dedham, surrounded by her family. Called "one of the most ubiquitous and least heralded citizen activists in metro Atlanta" in Creative Loafing Magazine's "Green Team" article in 2003, she threw herself into causes about the environmental impacts of transportation choices and land-use planning. Kay worked on staff for Mayor Maynard Jackson and for several Atlanta City Council members. Kay attended Northwestern graduated from Simmons. She was born in Statesboro, Georgia to the late Elizabeth and Ike Minkovitz. She and her loving husband, the late Robert William Beynart, of Hudson, NY, were married for 35 years until his death in 2000. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Pachus (Christopher) of Needham, son Daniel Beynart (Loretta) of Athens, GA, son Timothy Beynart (Tabatha) of Athens, Georgia; sister Donna Darracott (David) of Cumming, GA, brother David Minkovitz of Savannah, GA, brother Alan Minkovitz of St. Simons Island, GA, and grandchildren Elizabeth, William, Clayton, Tucker and Frances. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Kay's memory to the Georgia Conservancy, 817 West Peachtree Street, Suite 200, Atlanta 30308; or the Tybee Island Historical Society, 30 Meddin Dr, Tybee Island, GA 31328. The family will receive visitors at Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave, Needham, on Thursday, June 14 from 4 to 7 pm. A celebration of Kay's life will be held this summer in Atlanta, and burial will be private.
