Obituary Condolences

SARNER, Kay (Sebiri) Age 88, of Brookline, on Friday, August 24, 2018, after a long struggle with colon cancer. Devoted wife of the late Allan Sarner. She is survived by two sons, Jonathan and Laurence, both of Brookline; a sister-in-law, Sally Weiss of New York, NY; nephew James Weiss of Houston, TX; niece Allison Frentrop-Weiss and husband Paul of the Netherlands, and their children. Kay was born in Brooklyn, and grew up in New York and Memphis. She was raised by her grandparents and aunts and uncles whom she often spoke of lovingly. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Rochester, and after working for McGraw Hill as an editor, she married in 1956. In the 1960s, Kay's family moved to Dallas, and later, she moved to Brookline to be near her sons. She enjoyed the arts, especially opera and jazz, and could often identify the songs in an old musical after just hearing a few notes. An exercise enthusiast for many years, she loved the camaraderie of her friends in spinning classes. She relished animals and was a consummate dog lover. A constant source of inspiration in her sons' lives, she will be dearly missed. Services are private. Donations in her memory may be made to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals at www.mspca.org/donate-now/. Levine Chapels, Brookline 617-277-8300 www.levinechapel.com
