Dear Elaine,
My prayers are with you. Kenny was a person I admired. Looking back over 35 years ago, I still remember the care and joy he took with coaching our S.D. team. The things I most remember about that time long ago was how he would always pitch batting practice with that big catcher's mitt no matter what, how he would drive around before games trying to catch us (unsuccessfully most times) playing half-ball which he thought would screw up our swings and finally, NEVER letting us take a called third strike. The last, while a hard thing to comprehend as a 9/10 year old, was a lesson I've tried to take with me all these years. Never let a good opportunity pass without taking a cut at it and always give yourself a chance.
Kenny made a difference.

Dr. Preskenis was a wonderful teacher. He and his Friday afternoon jokes and stories will be greatly missed by his math students. He always brought humor and warmth into the classroom, and If he were here today, I would thank him for making his pupils into such well-rounded individuals and tell him that I admire him.

Ken Preskenis taught me to love mathematics and how to solve problems. Without the base he gave me, I would never be where I am today, and I am very grateful that I was lucky enough to come into his path. He will be greatly missed.

My deepest condolences to Elaine and the entire family. South Boston has lost a great unsung member of its community. I had not talked to Kenny in about 20 years since I joined the military and left Southie, but I will never forget my great coach. Kenny was my Little League Coach from 1969-1971 when I played for Supreme Diner. I will never forget getting his phone call telling me I made the team. It was a wonderful period of my life. He was not only a great coach but also a great mentor. Kenny was always there coaching you to be a better hitter and fielder. Or working with you to do better on your math homework. Kenny was a caring person who will be missed by all that he came in contact with.

Ken was a great guy to know, a teaching colleague I could easily commiserate with, and an inspiration to carry on the teaching of mathematics. I was awed by his devotion to the children of the South Boston community. We'll miss you Ken
