KENNETH DINKLAGE Obituary

DINKLAGE, Kenneth T. Harvard Psychologist, a man of gentle warmth and humor Kenneth Taylor Dinklage passed away at home, peacefully in his sleep, in the early morning of May 31st. The only child of William and Irene Dinklage, born on January 17, 1929, he was raised in Topeka, Kansas and dreamed of sailing in the open ocean. Valedictorian of his high school class, Kenneth headed east to Yale University with a full scholarship. He surprised the folks back home by spurning a career in business and followed his calling by entering a new Ph.D. program in clinical psychology at Harvard University. After getting his degree, Kenneth was a beloved staff psychologist at the Harvard University Health Services for over 40 years. He conducted therapy and psychological assessments as well as mentoring a generation of psychology interns. Kenneth published the first paper on learning differences in mastering a second language in the college population. Kenneth fulfilled his dream, navigating around Cape Cod in his sailboat for his honeymoon and exploring off the coast of the north shore for many years. He was a warm man who quietly asked the questions that got to the heart of the matter. Kenneth was an elegant, subtle, and humorous story teller. Kenneth is survived and missed by Lillian, his beloved wife for 52 years, his three children, Sarah, David, and Joshua, six grandchildren: Jacob, Benjamin, Gabriel, Rachel, Jesse, and Dory, and his first great grandchild born days before his passing, Annabelle Mae. Services will be private.
