MARGARET ELIZABETH RAMAGE Obituary
RAMAGE, Margaret Elizabeth Beloved sister & aunt & devoted friend to many, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. "Peg," as she was known to so many family and friends, was born & raised in Buffalo, New York, one of 7 children of the late Robert William & Margaret Howell Ramage. She completed much of her education locally in Buffalo, attending Nottingham Convent of the Sacred Heart (now part of The Nichols School) & SUNY at Buffalo where she graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. That same year, Peg joined the staff at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston as a licensed Registered Nurse. She subsequently completed two master's degrees, one in Nursing at Boston University & another in Health Care Administration at Simmons College. Peg spent more than 37 years working at Mass General, much of that times as a Clinical Nursing Supervisor various areas of the hospital. She remained truly dedicated to the hospital, even beyond her retirement in 2008 due to illness. Peg was the proud owner of the first "This Old House," a noted historic Victorian home in Dorchester which in 1979 was profiled in the book & original PBS television series of the same name. She meticulously maintained this well-known property for over 35 years. Despite numerous medical problems in more recent years, Peg's spirit & determination remained strong. Until recently, she continued to enjoy her favorite activities such as traveling, shopping and spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed frequent trips to her beloved Cape Cod. Peg is survived by her longtime devoted friend, Ruth Ann Barber. She is also survived by her six siblings: Florence Anne Ramage, Kathryn R. (John) Hutcheson, Carol R. (Robert) Abrams, Mary P. Szymanski, Robert W. Ramage Jr. & James H. Ramage. Additionally, she is survived by many nieces, nephews & their children in whose lives she took great interest and delight. Peg was a woman of faith who was a caretaker and giver to so many. She will be forever remembered for her kindness and generosity of heart. A private memorial service will be held. Assisting the family with the arrangements is the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (Rte 62) DANVERS.
