MARGARET NAKACHE Obituary
NAKACHE, Margaret Margaret Ann Lynch Nakache, known to her friends as Peggy, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2018, in Palo Alto, California, where she had moved in February to be with family while in hospice care. Peggy was born in Hartford, Connecticut, on December 17, 1932, the only child of Joseph C. and Alice M. Lynch. She attended the Rhode Island School of Design, graduating in 1954, and then continued her studies for two years at EEcole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. While living in Paris, she met Fernand Robert Nakache, then an officer in the French Air Force and a student at l'Ecole Nationale Superieure de l'Aeronautique. They wed in 1957 on Cape Cod where Peggy had always spent her summers growing up. Peggy and Fernand had two daughters, Catherine (Kate) and Patricia. While Fernand got his PhD at Columbia and pursued a long career with Computer Sciences Corporation, Peggy and the family moved frequently, living in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Brussels, and Washington DC, until the couple finally retired to Boston. Throughout her life, Peggy remained devoted to her art. While she worked in a variety of mediums, she was most prolific in watercolors, painting the landscapes of Cape Cod, the cityscapes of Paris, and all manner of flowers, among other subjects. She exhibited her work in numerous solo and group shows at galleries in the United States and France, and it is found in permanent collections around the world. Even in retirement, Peggy traveled extensively and remained active. She particularly enjoyed kayaking and snorkeling, and she was an avid bridge player. She continued to spend every summer on her beloved Cape Cod in the cottage built by her father. Peggy is survived by her daughter Kate in Atlanta,Georgia, her son-in-law Mike Kemether, and their three children Max, Sophie, and Nick, as well as her daughter Patricia in Menlo Park, California, her son-in-law Patrick Gordan, and their three children Robbie, Helen, and Andrew. Services private.
