BYRNE, Margaret T. "Peg" (Smith) Of Yarmouth, formerly of Dorchester and Roxbury, age 89, died peacefully surrounded by loved ones, on Friday, May 6, 2016. Beloved wife of sixty-four years, and best friend of Charles L. Byrne (Ret. B.P.D/M.S.P.). Beloved and adored mother of Patricia Byrne of Chestnut Hill, James E. Byrne and his wife "Ginger" of Dorchester, Charles L. Byrne Jr. (Ret. B.P.D.) and his wife Jane of Braintree, Kathleen Byrne of Squantum, Teresa Sullivan and her husband John of Braintree, and MaryAnn Hurley and her husband Paul of Norwell. Loving daughter of the late James and Agnes (McCarty) Smith. Devoted sister of the late Mary Sister Agnes Michael, S.C.H.), Frances Spatola and James Smith. Cherished grandmother of Brendan and his wife Charlotte, Deirdre, Maggie, Bernadette, Brian, and Delia Byrne, Elizabeth and Jay Gribaudo, Sean and Colleen Sullivan, and Erin and Patrick Hurley. Dear great grandmother of Bridgette and Rory Byrne. Devoted sister-in-law of Barbara Curtin McClain and George Cully and the late Edmund and Jan Byrne, Helen Cully and Tino Spatola. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to all the caregivers of Windrose of Weymouth, and Compassius Care for their exceptional care and devotion. Margaret was the former Director of Medical Records for the City of Boston, and former Real Estate Broker at Surrette Realty of Dennis. Margaret was a vibrant and fun loving woman, with an unmatchable sense of humor. She was a gifted pianist who enjoyed dancing, singing, socializing with her many friends, but mostly spending time with her family. Visiting hours in the John J. O'Connor & Son Funeral Home, 740 Adams St. (near Gallivan Blvd.), DORCHESTER, Monday 4 to 8pm. Funeral mass in St. Gregory Church, 2223 Dorchester Ave., Dorchester, Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, donations in Margaret's memory may be made to Sisters of Charity, Wellesley, MA. Interment private.
