MARY A. KEEFE Obituary
KEEFE, Mary A. (Maher) Of Orleans, formerly of Randolph, passed away on May 12, 2016, after a brief illness, at the age of 84. Born in Northampton, Mary graduated from St. Michael's High School in Northampton. She then went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree from Smith College and her Master's Degree from Boston College School of Social Work. She was a social worker for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for many years. Mary was an active member of her work and social communities. In Randolph, she served as a girl scout leader, town meeting member and was an active member of St. Bernadette's Parish, as a Eucharistic Minister and CCD teacher. Upon retiring to Cape Cod she became a Volunteer Certified ("genius") Mediator in Orleans District Court, an active member of the Nauset Newcomers Club and a town of Orleans Human Service Committee member. An active member of St. Joan of Arc Parish in Orleans, she was a member of the Social Justice Committee. She was also a member of the Voice of the Faithful. She was a noted card shark, beach lover and enjoyed the occasional martini. Mary was the wife of the late George L. Keefe. Loving mother of Maureen Keefe of Brookline, Kevin Keefe and his wife Rose of Braintree, Eileen Chichester and her husband Mark of Randolph and Monica Keefe Hess and her husband Robert of Eastham. Sister of the late Jeanne Venne and William Maher. Proud and boastful grandmother of Conor, Emily, Julia, Kayla, Brendan, Devon, Liam, Kaitlin and Ciara. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Reposing at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main St. (Rt. 28) RANDOLPH, until 9:00 AM on Monday, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Bernadette Church, 1027 No. Main St., Randolph. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 4:00 - 8:00 PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to a .
