NORTON G. ZIEFF

ZIEFF, Norton G. Of Winchester, MA and Ogunquit, ME, passed away unexpectedly on January 3, 2018. Norton was born on December 25, 1928 in Worcester, MA, the son of the late David and Ida (Dashoff) Zieff. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Miriam (Goldman) Zieff who passed away in 1995. Norton is survived by his loving wife Freyda (Winick) Zieff of 17 years. Besides his wife, Norton is survived by his children Mark and his wife Marci of Sudbury, MA, Susan Zieff of San Francisco, CA, Gary and his wife Cameron of Hanoi, Vietnam, Jennifer and her husband Michael Karras and Andrew and his wife Ruth Winick, both of Lake Forest, IL. Norton was also a proud grandfather of Drew and Sara Zieff, Noah, Reese and Blythe Karras and William and Mark Winick. Norton was for many years a manufacturer's representative in the men's clothing industry. He was also very passionate about his music. Classically trained in the saxophone and clarinet at the New England Conservatory, Norton performed for many years with his band "Cool Jazz". During his time in the U.S. Army during the Korean war, Norton led a band that performed throughout occupied Europe. He was also an avid traveler and had many adventures in China, Vietnam, Israel, Italy and Africa. Norton was a founding and active member of Temple Emunah of Lexington, MA. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2018 at Temple Emunah, 9 Piper Road, Lexington, MA followed by burial at Lindwood Memorial Park in Randolph, MA.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Norton's name to the United Services Organization (USO): USO Department WS, PO Box 96860, Washington, DC 20090-6860.
