Patricia Vail Obituary

Age 63, of Lexington, MA, died on Feb. 26, 2007, in Elmhurst, IL, after a long fight with melanoma. She was preceded in death by her husband H. Leroy Vail, a Professor of African History at Harvard University. She is survived by her daughter Sharon Mulenga of Lexington, her mother Christina Snider, her sister Sheila Gibbins both of Elmhurst, IL, & her brother Alex Horochena of Kenosha, WI, She was born in Birkenhead, England, and grew up in Kenosha, WI. She graduated with a Masters Degree in Mathematics from the University of WI, Madison and a Masters Degree in Systems Engineering from The University of VA, in Charlottesville. She lived in Malawi & Zambia, Africa as well as London, England, before returning to the US & settling in the Lexington & Concord area of MA. She was employed by Readers Digest, Alpha Tech, Polaroid & most recently Digimarc in the Systems Engineering & Management fields. Funeral Service Friday, March 2, in the Farrar Chapel of the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford St., CONCORD CENTER, at 10 a.m. Interment Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord. Visiting hours Thursday, March 1, from 7-8:30 p.m. Contributions in her memory may be made to Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, 465 Huntington Ave, Boston, MA 02115-5597 or donate a book to your local library in her memory. My sincerest condolences go out to Pat's family, and the large extended community of friends and associates who were privileged to know her.

Pat was a wonderfully warm and caring person, a consummate and stellar professional, and a credit to every organization and endeavor fortunate enough to be associated with her.

I pledge to offer charity in her name to honor her memory and to add to her spiritual merit.
