Paul Mercer Obituary

MERCER, Paul Allen Of Arlington, MA died on Saturday, October, 24, 2009 after a battle with lung cancer. He was 56 years of age. Paul was the loving husband to Kiki Olson Mercer and devoted father of Robert Gordon Mercer. Paul was born in Everett, MA. He was raised in Saugus, and graduated from Saugus High School. He was very active in the school band, and was an accomplished trombone player. He attended Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy MA and Northeastern University in Burlington. Paul worked his entire career in the health care field, and was employed by Lahey Clinic as a systems analyst/programmer in the laboratory. Paul was the beloved son of Rev. Dr. Gordon and Winnie Mercer of Saugus, MA and son in law to Dolores Olson of New Jersey; dear brother of Rev. Dr. David and Donna Mercer of Raymond, New Hampshire, Rev. Dr. James and Debbie Mercer of Homestead, Florida, and Karen and Robert Milordi of Lynnfield, MA; uncle to Lauren, Meredith and Rachele Milordi, James and Adam Mercer, Sarah and Alex Morales and Heidi and Cristo Jelev. Services will be held at Trinity Evangelical Church, 105 Haverhill St, North Reading on Friday, October 30. Visitation from 4:30-6:00, Memorial Service at 6:00 with reception following. Gifts in lieu of flowers may be made to either St. John's College in support of Paul and Kiki's commitment to classical education or to the MA General Hospital Cancer Center in support of Dr. Alice Shaw's lung cancer research.
