FRANKLIN, Peter, MD 66 – Teleradiology Pioneer and Prominent Radiologist. March 27, 2016. With profound sadness we announce the death of Peter D. Franklin, MD of Newton and Wareham. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen, the devoted son of Beverly and the late Dr. William Franklin, and nephew of Dr. Robert Franklin (and Jacqui Renear). He is survived by his sons, Timothy Franklin and Owen Franklin, and the latter's partner, Charles Cobine. In addition are his step-daughter, Gabrielle Ehrlich and her partner, Jamie McGuane, a step-son, Matthew Ehrlich, and a granddaughter, Devon Franklin. His brothers are Richard Franklin (and wife Josie) and Ted Franklin (and partner Dorian). He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. A graduate of Boston Medical School, he went on to be a renowned radiologist with a specialty in sports medicine, treating the likes of the San Diego Chargers, Chicago Bears, and the Washington Wizards. He was a pioneer in teleradiology and co-founded an imaging company that grew to employ 150 doctors. Dr. Franklin was a compassionate and generous progressive, supporting many humanitarian and educational causes.
