PHILIP GERARD SULLIVAN Obituary
SULLIVAN, Philip Gerard, M.D., M.P.H. On June 23, 2016, at age 83. Of Monument Beach, formerly of Medford and Milton, MA. Beloved husband of Valerie Lee Sullivan, who predeceased him in August 2002. Dear father of Deirdre Menchaca of Bloomfield, MI, John Sullivan of Scituate, MA, Maura Sullivan of Winchester, MA, and Kathleen Henry of Sutton, MA, and father-in-law of Frank Menchaca, Leana (Susi) Sullivan, Steven Cagnetta, and Peter Henry. Grandfather of eight adoring grandchildren, Gabriel, William and Aidan Menchaca, Roisin Sullivan, Samuel and Lia Cagnetta, and Emma and Jack Henry. Cherished brother of Sr. Rita Imelda Sullivan O.P. of Rosary Academy, Frances Reinfrank of Sharon, Vermont, and Margaret Wenger, predeceased.

Graduate and active alumnus of St. John's Preparatory School, Providence College, Tufts Medical School and Harvard School of Public Health. Commander, U.S. Navy (ret.), Lt. Colonel, Medical Corps, U.S. Army Reserve and U.S. Army National Guard (ret.). Dr. Sullivan was an obstetrician/gynecologist who practiced on the South Shore and in Boston, delivering hundreds of babies and caring for their mothers. He taught at Tufts Medical School and Northeastern University. After leaving private practice, he worked as a Medical Director for insurance companies, including New England Life Insurance Company and Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company, retiring only last year. Dr. Sullivan was an avid reader and loved history.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, June 29, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 12 p.m. at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Boulevard, BOURNE, MA. Burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne immediately following the ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tufts Medical School and/or The Pine Street Inn.
