Obituary Condolences

SWAEBE, Philip Henry 81, of Watertown, formerly of Belmont, passed away on February 2, 2013, following a brief battle with cancer. Mr. Swaebe was the son of the late Dr. Henry and Pauline (Connors) Swaebe of Belmont. He is survived by his sons Jeffrey of Queens, N.Y., David of Reading and Scott of Marlborough; his former wife, Catherine Stewart Gulman of Arlington; his sister, The Reverend Paula Kettlewell of Charlottesville, Va.; his daughter-in-law Connie Swaebe of Reading; and his grandchildren Dylan Swaebe, Carter Swaebe and Jean Swaebe. Mr. Swaebe was a graduate of Belmont High School (Class of 1950), Tilton School (1951) and Suffolk University. He served honorably as a paratrooper in the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division, at Fort Bragg, N.C., during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Swaebe spent much of his career as an independent insurance agent. His real passion was stage theatre. He helped produce several off-Broadway shows, including the long-running musical All Night Strut in Boston, San Francisco, New York and Toronto. A Memorial Service will be held in the Story Chapel of Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 11 A.M. with Reverend Dianne Arakawa officiating.
