RAYMOND H. LAFOREST Obituary
LaFOREST, Raymond H. Of Plymouth formerly of Kingston, died peacefully on July 7th, he is the beloved husband of Nancy R. (Hammond) LaForest. Loving father of Steven S. LaForest and his wife Megan of Greeley, CO., Jeffrey D. LaForest and his partner John J. Vincent, Jr. of Plymouth and Christopher S. LaForest of Plymouth. Loving Twin Brother of Madeleine Butterfield of Plymouth, Paulette Davignon of Manchester, CT., Claire Butterfield of Hardy, VA., Joan Lougee of Duxbury and the late Theresa Cartmell, Gabrielle Champagne, Paul LaForest and John LaForest. Cherished grandfather of Alexis LaForest of Plymouth, Courtney Costinett, Sarah Kellner and Hannah LaForest. Great-grandfather of Luke and Noah. Loving Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Born in New Bedford, MA on December 5, 1925 a son of the late Oscar and Lillian (Jean) LaForest, he was educated in New Bedford and at the age of 17 he entered the US Navy where he served during WWII as a Seaman 2nd class having landed on the beach of Normandy. After the war Ray went to work for TWA as an Operational Supervisor and for Alitalia Airlines as a Sales Rep.. He also worked for Bostonian Shoe as their Customer Relations Manager, and for the Plymouth County Registry of Deeds where he worked until his retirement. Ray also worked many years in the Cartmell family funeral business and continued that until he retired at the Age of 85. A member of St. Bonaventure Church in Manomet, he served many years as a Eucharistic Minister for St. Joseph Church in Kingston and St. Mary's Church in North Plymouth. Visiting hours in the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St., PLYMOUTH on Sunday July 10th from 4 - 7 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 am in St. Bonaventure Church, in Manomet. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Memorial donations in his name may be made to St. Bonaventure's Church, P.O. Box 996, Manomet, MA. 02345 or the Senior Behavioral Health Unit, at B.I. D. Hospital - Plymouth 275 Sandwich St., Plymouth, MA. 02360. More info and online guest book please visit
