RICHARD VINCENT Obituary

VINCENT, Dr. Richard E., D.C. 89, of Falmouth, MA and previously of Beverly, MA died peacefully at his home on November 19, 2018 surrounded in love by family.

He was the loving husband of Carla (LeMotte) Vincent. Richard was born in Marlboro, MA and lived and practiced in Beverly, MA until moving to Falmouth in 1999. He attended Beverly Public Schools and was a graduate of St. John's Preparatory High School. He served as a Captain in the first American NATO division of the US Army in Germany during the Korean conflict.

His impact on the Chiropractic profession was immeasurable. He graduated from the Chiropractic Institute of New York in 1950 and practiced most of his life in Beverly. He was appointed to the first Board of Chiropractic Examiners by Governor John A Volpe and served five succeeding Governors from 1966-1984. He also served as Chairman of the Massachusetts Board of Chiropractic Examination and Registration, President of the Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards and President of the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners. He was chosen as Chiropractor of the Year by the Massachusetts Chiropractic Society in 1970, was awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 1986 and received an honorary Doctor of Law degree from the National University of Health Sciences in 2006.

Richard lived his passion with long active dedication to state and community service. He served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the North Shore Community College, Vice Chairman and member of the Governor's Commission on Mental Retardation for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts serving under five Massachusetts Governors, the Cape Ann Area Board of Mental Retardation and Mental Health, Beverly Rotary Club, Beverly Lions' Club, Beverly YMCA, as well as the Board of Directors for the Beverly Savings Bank, Beverly Chamber of Commerce and many other civic groups.

In addition to his wife, Carla, Dr. Vincent is survived by his children, John (wife, Jean) of Beverly, Katherine Vincent Harris (husband, Lawrence) of Hamilton, David of Gloucester and Elizabeth of Sandwich and step-daughter, Robin Pelletier of Roslindale. He is survived by 6 grandchildren, Jennifer and Michael Lassins, Courtenay Schunemann, David and Jeffrey Vincent, Xiomara Nu?ez; and 3 great-grandsons. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Josselin of Beverly and his brother, Paul Vincent of Falmouth, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 from 12 until 2:30 PM at the Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, 584 West Falmouth Highway, WEST FALMOUTH, with a memorial service to follow in the funeral home at 2:30 PM.
